Headquartered in San Diego, California, Solar Turbines, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial gas turbines, with more than 17,000 units and over 2 billion operating hours in over 100 countries. The turbines can be used in many different areas e.g. for pipeline transmission of natural gas and crude oil or for electricity generation for oil platforms, large buildings or vessels.

Solar Turbines Digital is delivery focused, fast moving and dynamic technology division of Solar Turbines whose main goal is to create innovative, practical and comprehensive solutions to help their customers manage their turbomachinery and onsite operations. The customers are global Oil & Gas, Pipeline and Power Generation companies located all over the world. The Digital team has approximately 250 people across San Diego, Switzerland and Slovakia.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Test Engineer who possess excellent communication skills and ability to learn. You will be part of the international team working in an agile environment responsible for functional and non-functional testing of developed applications including developing of automated test cases – scripts. Applications can vary from customer oriented analytic tools or contract management to the lowest level turbine data computations and data processing.

You will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing of the requirement and design specifications
  • Development of functional and non-functional manual and automated test cases (scripts)
  • Implementing test automation into CI/CD to support frequently delivered applications to customers 
  • Tracking and reporting of quantitative and qualitative testing results/metrics in an auditable form
  • Ensuring testing is carried out in a timely, repeatable and effective manner
  • Defect logging and reporting

  • Computer / testing skills – MUST
    • Manual testing techniques – advanced
    • ISTQB / ISEB foundation certificate
    • Automation test scripting techniques – intermediate
    • Any programming or scripting language – intermediate
  • Tools
    • Test management tools (Azure, Jira…) – advanced
    • Defect logging tool – advanced
    • Version control tool – intermediate
    • Continuous integration tool – intermediate
  • Other
    • Ability to query database (SQL) – intermediate
    • Strong understanding of web technology
    • Agile software methodology – SCRUM
